You can hear the "Song of the Misty Mountains" here, and also read a brief article about it.  I'm happy to report that the songwriter, Neil Finn, suggests that "pop music needs more anvil."  What's not to like?

Squeeeeeeeee! Oh, that is gorgeous! Well, that does it. I'm pre-ordering the soundtrack. Or at the very least putting it on my Amazon wish list and strong-arming the spawn into looking at said list.

Er, I'm not so sure about more anvil. Sounds suspiciously like more cowbell.

Oh my, I'm so pleased with this. I'm delighted that I pre-ordered the soundtrack more than a week ago. Heck, my credit card was paid off and I can't possibly let it stay that way for long... Loved it - want more anvils. Must listen to it again....

...I feel like such an old grump for not liking this song all that much. Well, I do like it, actually - it's just that...it sounds a bit like a power ballad. I don't really associate power ballads with Dwarves, or Middle Earth for that matter. I like the "ajajajja"and the anvils though. Meh, it'll grow on me, I suppose.
