I've been too fannish lately, and this is really not helping matters.

Eccleston and Hiddleston??  o___o  The only way they could possibly sweeten the deal for me would be to throw Zach Quinto in.

Also, I can't believe I didn't realize until quite recently that Sylvester McCoy (a.k.a. Radagast the Brown) was the 7th Doctor!  I never saw the classic Who beyond a couple episodes.  I'm actually remedying that now, starting with the first season from 1963 (it can really only go uphill from there).

Also, I finally caught Robin Hardy's film The Wicker Tree.  I'm not sure I'd consider it good, which is a shame because I loved The Wicker Man (the original...dear god, not the remake) to pieces.  However, The Wicker Tree is notable for starring Graham McTavish as the villain, and for a Christopher Lee cameo.  Mr. Lee was slated to be the main villain, but apparently he hurt his back around the time of filming. =*[

You might enjoy our from-the-beginning Doctor Who reviews, linked from the tabs on the front page of my journal. We watched an episode a day; with a few breaks here and there it took 3 years.

Ah cool. Found the post for Season 01, and read your brief blurbs through The Daleks (yeah, I'm not too far along yet).

I'm afraid I thus far haven't enjoyed them too much. I find Ian a bit too Right All The Time and Barbara a bit too Excitable, but I can see where there's potential for character development.

These early episodes are a real acquired taste, I think. Wait till you get to the episodes with no pictures! Wait till you get to the episodes with barely any sound! I confess I love this first season, and I find the opening episode one of the most scintillating half hours of TV I've ever seen. I love how Doctor Who is like one long case study of changes in television production.

Acquired tastes are fun (like Thai iced tea; that's now a special treat for when I need motivation, whereas I hated it first time I tried it...I digress).
I did just watch the 'Edge of Disaster' episodes or whatever they were called, the one where everybody is stuck in the Tardis, and the fleshing out of the characters there did encourage me. Onward!
