Image of movie!Radagast

http://www.examiner.com/article/radaghast-the-brown-finally-emerges-from-hiding-2013-hobbit-calendar

Evidently this had to be removed from its original source (I know who you are!) but at least as of present it's still in the above article.

So far I've been pretty pleased with what I've seen/heard of Sylvester McCoy, Radagast's invovlement in the story, and his dear house that was shown briefly in Jackson's last videoblog (#8 I think).  Apparently there are some more spoilery descriptions of him and a few other characters floating about somewhere, which I've opted not to visit.

I'm not sure what to make of this picture.  This might have no bearing on the character's appearance as such in the film, but the way he's rendered here reminds me of some Mediaeval saint.  Which I kind of like.

I do not like his hat.  WTH, Radagast?  Have you been hanging out with Bofur?  Then again, I guess you could interpret those thingummies as winglike, which is appropriate for someone whose pre-Istar name was Aiwendil.

Also: "Radaghast." Shame, examiner.com, shame.

He does look a little bit aghast. Maybe it's because of the hat.

Interesting, although I totally agree with you about the hat. What's up with that! LOL

Your flying book icon in this context amuses me, because I was beginning to picture Radagast using that hat to fly about...and to drop down by the dozens to defeat a giant inflatable Sauron a la 2012 Olymics opening ceremony.

I too hate the hat. But I fangirl the saint-ish image relentlessly because in my imagination St. Franciscus of Assisi is really just another appearance of Radagast stuck in Middle Earth forever and ever. Which I keep wanting to write a tragic fanfic about but also keep forgetting about. Either way. Uhm. Yes.

OMG I love that idea, you should totally write that.

I actually wondered when I saw the picture whether it was supposed to vaguely evoke St. Francis, but depictions I could find didn't look particularly similar (but then, I don't know if anyone knows what St. Francis looked like anyway..)
