Hobbit = three films

So the 'okay so we might make three films instead' bruhaha has culminated in Peter Jackson's facebook note confirming this is the case.

Too sleepy to have opinion at present time.  Now is a good time for people with opinions to move in and attack.

I think, on the whole, this is a 'woo hoo!' although I am sure for some people it will be an 'Aaaaargh!'

It's great that there is both enough material to support three films, and enough demand to support them.

I am definitely excited about the prospect of more appendices material being included. Something about three whole films isn't sitting right with me, but it might be something as shallow as, "But 'An Unexpected Journey' and the 'There and Back Again' were perfect titles, how are they going to come up with another clever title like that?" =P

How about he just gives us all the stuff he filmed for LOTR? I'd like that. I want to see the scouring of the shire, and Faramir's wedding, and everything else he left out.

Oh it would be cool if he were able to film a bunch of left-out scenes from LotR and release them as an anthology of shorts...which would only appeal to geeks, but there are many of us. >=D

Ummm....yay? Probably will work out. We will only have six months extra wait for the last one, since it will be in summer of 2014.

I'm somewhere in-between "whoooo more Tolkien stuff!!!!1" and ..."whoa, they're really milking this franchise for all it's worth huh?" and also "well, if you wanted to make that many films you could just as well have started on some Sil stories already! It's the Hobbit! The one Tolkien story that doesn't have much of a story to it in comparison!"...so...yeah. But I'll let my fangirl glee triumph for now. xD

Yes, that about sums it up.

I'm not sure what I'd think of filming Sil stories. Part of me would be giddy, but part of me would worry that the movies would just eclipse the books, and then we'd have a ton of people going around fangirling movie version of characters they never bothered to read about. (Cause I mean, who reads the Sil besides cool people on the internet? I have met -one- person IRL who has..)
