Oh, and, because my nation's founding is my favorite part of its history, have a song.  I highly recommend the musical comedy 1776.  Lamentably, I couldn't find a version with the video as well as the audio.

*Yes, in my enthusiasm I misspelled boson as bosom.  This is going to haunt me to my grave.

I was being snarky at fireworks at the state fairgrounds last night because before they began there was an announcer who made it sound like Independence Day was about nationalism, xenophobia, imperialism and other fun stuff. No one cares to remember the founders anymore. D=<

Such a great film. I was disappointed I wasn't able to find the actual video clip of the "But Mr. Adams" song on youtube. I love it when Franklin and co. are giddily dancing with the cane and Adams gets all exasperated about it. XD

Was just thinking on the way in to work this morning how the discovery of the Higgs boson is a rare example of science just for the sake of knowledge -- not trying to make money off it. (Right? right? Please don't tell me I'm just being naive again...)
