Dreamwidth bandwagon

Testing the crosspost thing. I'm getting a bit sick of LJ's shenanigans so I've decided to follow everyone else's shining proactive example.

ETA - so for those who are messed about with this cross-journaling thing longer than I have, pray tell: Where does one go to export one's prior LJ entries to DW? Is there a way to follow one's LJ-based f-list from one's Dreamwidth account?

Here's how to import: http://www.dreamwidth.org/support/faqbrowse?faqid=127 (I suggest waiting until LJ's more reliable, because it'll fail like crossposting entries can.)

I'm not sure there's a way to follow LJ's flist on here, because of the privacy locks.

To import LJ, on the DW site navigation go to organize -> import content --- https://www.dreamwidth.org/tools/importer --- and it's something like two clicks. Might take a few minutes, might take days, just depends how many requests they're processing.

I don't think there's a way to follow your current f-list, you'd have to find and subscribe to those people on DW.

Thanks, much appreciated!

Have added you there! LJ is really weird these days, yes.

What's going on with LJ now? I've had a couple friends jump ship, at least temporarily. I had a dreamwidth account but didn't like having two journals.

What with the huge downtime recently, and the thing dropping comments and posts and losing them forever as you go to post them (I haven't lost anything important, but I've seen some people who have), and then just not trusting that they won't eventually force us all to adopt changes like the new friends page...I just figure it's time to have a fallback.

I'm going to read and comment at both places, but (cross)post via DW, and see how sustainable that is. I can see where it has the potential to be a hassle.
