Welcome to the wrap-up, where I'm not linking to the original post because now it's done and I'm too lazy! hurrah!

Thank you very much to everyone who participated, whether it was by writing drabbles, ficlets, or using the opportunity to pick up an unfinished work. I was delighted to see the variety of work this spawned. I will likely host this little challenge again next June (and maybe make some banners or something y/y?)

Attn: I will make a round-up post of links to stories next week (8 Jul). If you would like your work(s) to be included in the round-up post, please do drop a link in the comments section below before then.
Multiple links are acceptable if you archive in multiple places (links to LJ, dA, etc. also cool).
[ETA - if someone does not have LJ but happened to write something for this, anon is now enabled so people who aren't registered on this site can comment here. I'd thought I had it enabled before, but no.]

ETA 2 - Behold, the shiny new AO3 collection! Do make use of this. Posting to the collection should be open now. Many thanks to Zdenka/[livejournal.com profile] lignota for doing most of the work involved in setting this up.

Thank you for hosting this! I had fun.

I don't have anything that's ready to go in such a collection yet, but I think it would be cool to have all the works in one place if people are interested in putting their stuff there.

I've never set up a collection myself, but perhaps this is useful?

I'm so glad some people found it enjoyable or useful!

(Anything begun during June, but still wanting further edits before official-type posting, can always be added to the round-up post and AO3 collection at a later date.)

Thanks again for your help. =D

I felt rather mean for not making an effort to take part.So here is a belated drabble. I fear it's not very good.

Oh hey, thanks for writing something for this. =) I quite like that drabble. That reaction seems very in character for Denethor. And definitely fits the theme of the challenge!

I've also posted it on AO3 and have now added it to the AO3 collection there.

Thank you very much for the challenge, Huin!
If you decide to run it again, I will participate again, if I can manage it.

Great, thanks! I'm glad people are using the collection which I should do too.

Barring exceptional circumstances, I think I will do this next year also.

One day I will write the story I actually meant to for this. :P And they'll be on Ao3 and in the collection as soon as I work up motivation to do things.

And I'll try to do this next year too, though if I end up in England for school, it might be of the "HI HUIN! Here's a fic! BYE!" variety of participation.

...though if I end up in England for school,

Wait what? Tell me more of this possibility (off the radar somewhere, if you prefer, or whatever)!

I'll try and post but I am having *issues* with formatting. As usual. :/

I can try to help with the formatting issues if that would be useful. AO3 can be very frustrating sometimes.

It looked fine at first but then when I fixed the accents on names, most of my italics disappeared. Grrr.

Huh. That's annoying, and I'm not sure why it would do that.

I wonder if it could be an issue with switching between rich text and html modes. Which mode did you post and edit in, if you don't mind saying? Do you put in italics and accent marks with html coding, or a different way?

Or is the thing you're trying to italicize on separate lines, like a stanza of poetry? I know there is or was an AO3 bug related to that.

I just copy/pasted from my lj but when I checked the preview I realized some names didn't have the proper accent. So I had to c/p from another source to my lj, and c/p from my lj to the work.

But the real problem is losing the italicised (sic) portion. Only the first line is being italicised on parts while other segments have it all italicised. I tried to just cut out the mistake and redo the but it refuses to hold.

I think the only thing to do is delete and start a fresh copy. :(

Ah, yes. There is a frustrating bug on AO3 where if you have italics tags spanning multiple line breaks, the italics will only "take" on the first line. I encountered it once before, and AO3 support told me to put a separate set of italics tags around each line. It was a nuisance, but it worked.

I don't know whether adding in all the extra tags would be more or less of a pain than posting a fresh copy, but it's something to consider if you keep having trouble.

In either case, I hope it works!

Ok, thank you for the suggestion. I will probably try it later on, :)

Hope you're able to figure it out. AO3 causes me inordinate confusion every time I venture there. My story was already posted in another archive, and I successfully used the "import" feature without incident, except that it inserted all the story info into the first chapter and I had to edit that out.
