This has been productive for me already. I did a final few edits on a (suitably doomful and angsty) drabble that I wrote back for B2MeM 2013 and finally posted it.

I also have a list of ideas for things I want to work on, though it remains to be seen how much of it will happen. My current greatest problem with writing is that I start things and never finish them, or finish them but have second thoughts and keep them in the editing stage forever. I'm hoping this will be the impetus to knock off a few things.

I'm glad you've already been able to use this as impetus to finish that (very effective) drabble.

Your second paragraph is very similar to where I am. I have a plot Nazgul that's been wandering around for months that needs out of my head; after that, I might pick up some unfinished things.

Does it need to be beta'd or can it be a rough draft?

Whatever one likes; however you usually feel comfortable sharing your work. =) I prefer to edit my own work without a beta before posting (I'm not sure if by "rough draft" you mean unbeta'd, or unedited by the author?).

My rough drafts are usually self-edited and thus unbeta'd; I like to think they aren't too bad (hello, spellcheck!) but there are often odd glitches that I don't see until they are pointed out.

If you've taken the time to edit it, I'd hardly think it's a "rough" draft; don't sell your own abilities short. =)
