Apparently it's been nearly a year since the inaugural (and only) Character Song Review Minute.  Unacceptable!

I think there are drabbles/ficlets I ought to be commenting on, but my focus has been scattered, so pardon my indulging in cracked-outedness instead.  I'll get back to serious business one of these days, hand to Melkor.  In the meantime, the characters and I review a remixed rendition of "Eyes of Fire" by Blue Foundation.

Huinárë: This song is my current obsession.  Firstly, the melody and tone are sort of pretty, sort of dark, yet sort of energizing.  Secondly, I prefer this remix to the original, though both are good.  Somehow I have really been into dubstep remixes lately.  I find them sort of hypnotic. Thirdly, well, the lyrics.  I imagine it's supposed to have some sort of romantic/sexual subtext, but I don't prefer to read things that way these days, so a few things came at once to mind.  Such as facing one's literal and metaphorical enemies with a simmering contempt and determination.  And also House Bolton because, well, I don't think that needs further explanation.  And also it sums up certain palantiri hijinks in my 'verse quite aptly.

Mairon: This...music is very, hmm, technological.  Which is not a bad thing in itself.  I think this could grow on me.  I am certainly sold on the lyrics, which I think describe literally or figuratively what happens to, well, pretty much anybody who crosses me.  Particularly decrepit!Curumo in the Third Age.  But anyone, really.

Curumo:  This song worries and vexes me leaves much to be desired.  Not only are the lyrics unsubtle and naught but posturing, Mairon and the writer-thing are in league against me the deluge of electronic noise sounds like a gigantic sheep bleating incessantly.

Olórin: I don't get it.  At all.  Give me some merry flutes any day.  However, I'm sure this music will improve upon generous usage of pipeweed and cider, as do most things.

Pallandë: I would be reasonably fond of this if it weren't giving me extremely traumatic flashbacks (see Mairon's comment).  No matter.

Draugluin: This song is clearly about revenge.  Which is good, I mean, sometimes all one wants is a bit of revenge.  A bit, you know, not a prolonged reeking helping of it (see Pallandë's comment).  Oh god I don't know what to believe anymore.

Ancalagon: If there is flaying to be done, I shall do it in the name of Lord Melkor.  Your lamentations and cries for mercy shall avail you nothing.

Ah! The "Character Song Review Minute" should happen more often for sure.

I like dubstep mixes as well... especially for working. I used to listen to a lot of trance for certain kinds of schoolwork.
