LOL, keep clear of me, I am a total P and never plan anything if I can get away with it... :-D

I'm very dubious about that 'most bosses are judges' though. I've definitely had a LOT of bosses that cheerfully winged their way through stuff where J types would just fall down in panic under the strain of unpredictability and speed of change... Possibly small fastmoving entrepreneurial organisations are more likely to do well led by P's, whereas large or governmental organisations are more likely to have J's as bosses?

Does the non-planning include times when you have someone waiting for you? Ugh, that sounds confrontational when I type it out, but I meant it out of curiousity...Trying to understand what goes through minds-that-aren't-mine in particular circumstances, since frankly I get baffled when people appear to make plans with me and then I don't see them until hours after I thought I would.

The thing I linked to probably isn't the most informed discussion of the matter, it was just the first thing I found that said something germane about the whole planning issue. I think either tendency can be a strength or a weakness depending on the circumstances.

Hmmm, failing to turn up at a pre-arranged rendezvous sounds like a bit more than a preference to avoid planning. I mean, I don't like making plans and I have to admit, am often pretty disorganised, but that's my problem, not anyone else's : if I've agreed to be somewhere, then I try to be there. 10 minutes late, maybe, as I'm not very good at it - but hours late is just rude....

I don't like wearing a watch or carrying a mobile phone, I almost never use an alarm clock and the idea of filling up a diary months in advance creeps me out - but I do agree with you that one cannot really operate in life without being able to turn up for appointments. Sometimes deadlines are inevitable, no matter how much I loathe them. :-D

Yeah, I probably shouldn't stereotype all "P" preferences as doing this. There's probably a certain element of not conceiving of others' time involved as well, like you say.

The thing I kept getting the other day was "There in fifteen mins," then 40 minutes later, "there in 12 mins" and nary an apology. I tend to fall back on Myers-Briggs to analyze interpersonal issues when it seems like the best recourse to a complete descent into frustration. X)

That's really irritating : not surprised you were frustrated!

I think Myers-Briggs is fascinating, but sometimes I wonder how much we choose our Myers-Briggs types rather than being stuck with them... I'm sure when I was younger I was much more of a planner!

Yes it's absolutely fascinating, but also something to take with a grain of salt since, like you say, people do change. And of course each of the four letters is a continuum rather than a polarity.

I've oscillated regularly between "F" and "T" depending on life circumstances, and I actually have been consciously considering my reactions and "choosing" T recently because it seems to be the function that renders me more motivated and less depressive.
