I'm sifting the merits of making the credit card company happier by procuring a graphics tablet.  If anyone has had positive/negative experiences with a particular brand, or tablets in general, please chime in.  I'm clueless.

I have a Wacom Intuos. I keep thinking I should use it more, but I have never quite warmed to it : there is a learning curve and I find it weird to be drawing in one place and the line appears somewhere else.

It seems to be OK as a tool, but if you haven't used one before it might be worth finding somewhere you can try it out and see if it suits?

It hadn't even occurred to me that this would be weird until I thought about it more. Then I was like "hm, yeah, that's kinda weird." I think I'm stubborn enough to master it. I am convinced I can master most subjects that don't involve smiling, as well as some subjects where smiling is optional. Definitely wouldn't hurt to see if I can try a demo product though.

I'm sure you can. I think probably I'd be fine with it if I sat down and used it every day for a week or two - it's just that because I do quite a lot of old fashioned drawing with pencils, and a lot of mousework, the muscle memories of my hands are all wrong for the tablet, and I need to find an extended period of time where I can find a new mode for them.

It may not help that as I use a good gaming mouse which is very precise, the increase in precision I get from the pen is not as noticeable, so the incentive to push on is less!

Ah yeah, muscle memory + gadgets can take a while to alter.
I've been using a laptop as my sole computer for years, and using the sometimes awkward touchpad mice thereupon, so I think I'd notice increased precision in a stylus right away. =D
