Graphics tablet advice/experiences?

I'm sifting the merits of making the credit card company happier by procuring a graphics tablet.  If anyone has had positive/negative experiences with a particular brand, or tablets in general, please chime in.  I'm clueless.

I have a Bamboo (of some sort, I'm too lazy to go check which one.) It's nice, even if I mainly use it to draw birthday cakes and do Noldorin graffiti. ;p
