Please to give me music on youtube, I honestly don't care what except that it has a good beat.  Humorous or irreverent might also be a plus.

I'm having the worst mental blocks about coursework lately and I really need to finish this damned thing today.  I am really not in the mood for plowing through sources to adequately support my claims.  New music = good and helpful!

OK, this is just what is stuck in my head at the moment:

Cute and amusing, not all the way into "humorous and irreverent," but hope it helps.

Although I find it humorous when bands get into the '80s revival thing, just because I was there. This could be from a tape I lost in 6th grade. But I give this band props for doing it way back in 2004 -- on the cutting edge!

Oh that is excellent, it has what I at any rate hear as a sort of downbeat mania, which is what I appreciate much 80's music for. Thanks!

"Downbeat mania." Great term.

old, but still pretty good/funny; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZW9NYX6JZA

I don't really know what it is about this, but his voice makes me grin.

You probably already know this one. But if there ever was irreverent it is everything this guy ever touched.

stuck in my head forever and ever, but might not be you thing. not irreverent at all, but has a beat, I guess;

Meh sorry not feeling very inspired. I'm currently drowning myself in drone/sludge/noise all of which are nearly entirely beat-less.

Thanks.. Yes, I had heard the evil one before, but not as recently or often as one might think, yay! Have you posted stuff by Elysian Fields on your journal before? I'm not familiar with them but seems like I've seen or heard them somewhere.

I really like the Wild Beasts one. The video is strangely diverting too. I'm needing weird music that kind of gets aggressively in my face right now and drags me back to attention, because my mind keeps wandering off into this weird state of futile stress... That one fits the bill.

Lol, probably. I think I only posted one song on lj so far though, which is kind of award worthy, considering. Sugarplum Arches has fairly non-nonsensical lyrics, but my love for the lyrics from Queen of the Meadow + Dreams that breathe your name albums is of such an amount that I can actually recite them without hearing the songs. Which pretty much means I may have grossly overdosed on EF. xD I blame it on having a similar voice. I can wail EF songs while playing harp way too easily and not sound completely weird.

Some more songs with a beat;

Metric. This is seriously my themesong for the whole exams/auditions period.

Glasser. Consists of beats, basically.

Marina and the diamonds. Sounds like a soundtrack for my dramaqueen antics. Not sure if your thing, but here;

Ooh songs, thank you...I really like the first two, and the video to the Beats Antique one is great (I rather like the song as well). Really awesome imagery at about 4:14, it's got like owls and snakes and foxes and god knows what else!

The Maria and the Diamonds one isn't quite "my thing," though my tastes are pretty eclectic and I can see its merits. Generally if I'm not listening to folksy or ambient stuff, I'm (true to paradoxical form) listening to vaguely or overtly violent-sounding stuff instead. My drama queen moments would be more along the lines of: Caliban's Revenge.

Which pretty much means I may have grossly overdosed on EF. xD I blame it on having a similar voice. I can wail EF songs while playing harp way too easily and not sound completely weird.

Well, the singer seems to have a cool voice, so I'm going to interpret this as a good thing. =D It's fun to find music that works. I can really belt out Hebrew folk songs for whatever reason, not that I know many, but the language and key of the songs just seem to work with my voice.

@)#*FJPOJQDpo Sorry to hear about the work mental block. I know how that goes. You might know this one already, but it's a tremendously catchy (imo) song with a delightfully weird-ass 80s sci-fi vibe video. What more could you ask for?

Thankfully it's all behind me for three months now (although the sad thing is everything I was scrambling to finish would have been bearable and even fun if I hadn't put it off..)!

That does sound like a delightful song, but I do not see a link...?
