FSC: Day 15 (fin)

Day Fifteen
In your own space, create your own challenge. What’s something you want to see more people doing in fandom? Is there something fun you’ve tried that you think other people would enjoy if they gave it a go? Dare your friends to try it out, and have fun with it.

______________

Many have already challenged us all to review/comment more on others' work.  This is a fine idea.

I'm not the type to suddenly issue a challenge, however, I will take this opportunity to throw out an idea which has occasionally surfaced in my brain: Would anyone be interested in a Tolkien darkfic/angst/horror/etc challenge at some point?  I don't know what a proper name would be, but basically an "everything is bad and it all hurts" type thing.

Yeah I know I'm full of surprises and no one would ever have expected a query of that particular nature from me.

On that happy note, I hope everyone has enjoyed this lovely little challenge!  =D

I like "Doom in June".

I don't believe there's anything major going on then (if you'll thinking they'll be due sometime in June), though I think that's about the time frame Ardor in August/Sultry in September kicks off.

Thanks for the feedback!

(I'm consolidating your question from upthread into this comment):
Would it be a fic exchange or a prompt fest like this year's B2MeM or the now-defunct [livejournal.com profile] dark_fest or something else entirely?

Something else entirely! I'm not sure if there's a specific term for this approach, but I liked the informal way [livejournal.com profile] aliana1 set up her Bechdel Test Challenge last year: She didn't have any prompts, just a theme (action/adventure); and from what I remember we were just encouraged to work on our stories, talk about our progress, and post links to our output at any time during the month (in that case, January). That seems like a reasonable way to initiate a small challenge.

Yes, I was thinking June as the month they're due, if the above-described approach can be said to have a particular due date. It seems there is stuff of some sort going on year-round. I know AinA's really big, and then NaNo consumes the efforts of many, and then Yule exchanges, and then B2MeM(and somewhere amidst that, the MEFAs eventually...)

That format sounds perfect for this!

Yeah, I think so too, friendly and low-pressure. I'm not up to trying to do anything big and complicated, but hosting progress report/squeeing/support threads is totally something I could do.

OMG I was just looking back through this and I realized I said MEFAs. That is awkward. I meant the TOMEs. ;(
