Though Tolkien doesn't let his characters be happy very often or for very long, so I feel like you could pick names out of a hat if you wanted -- everyone has angst potential.
Too true. Celebrimbor and MÃriel are particularly interesting angst!candidates IMHO, as each could arguably have done things somewhat differently (or could they have?) and thereby maybe saved both themselves and many others.
